Physician Anesthesia Service Case Load
Physician Anesthesia Service, P.C. (PAS) has been providing surgical anesthesia services to the people of mid-Michigan for over thirty years. During this time, the group has grown from four physicians providing services at all of the local hospitals to a twenty physician group affiliated with the Sparrow Health System; which includes Sparrow Hospital and the St. Lawrence Campus. Physician Anesthesia Service has a strong reputation within the Lansing community for providing quality medical care. We get along well with all members of the health care team and are easily accessible for cases. Over the course of it's history, PAS has been successful in attracting people who instinctively and repeatedly do the right thing when faced with difficult choices. As a result, PAS has been - and continues to be - a professional corporation that operates according to a high standard of business and medical ethics. Physician Anesthesia Service, P.C. is a true group practice, not an assemblage of individual, fee-for-service practitioners. Yet, PAS has evolved into a diverse group of physicians possessing a comprehensive array of knowledge, abilities, and qualifications enabling us to care for all patient age groups from the extreme premature to the extreme elderly, across all surgical specialties, as inpatients and as ambulatory outpatients. The size of the group has allowed PAS to acquire anesthesiologist with additional training in cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, and regional anesthesia. The group exhibits flexibility in its approach to the care of surgical patients, as exemplified by our development of "parents in the OR for induction" program, the first of its kind in mid-Michigan. The PAS staff consists of qualified, board certified, or board eligible (in the examination process) physician anesthesiologists. Provision of anesthesia services to all patients in need of such services is accomplished personally by anesthesiologists or via the anesthesia care team approach, consisting of registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs). PAS anesthesiologists take responsibility for the perioperative care of patients, including preoperative assessment, interoperative care, and postoperatively in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. A PAS anesthesiologist remains present in the facility until all post operative patients have been discharged from the building, admitted, or are medically stable and discharged from the PACU. The philosophy at PAS is that patient care comes first, before all other considerations. In this regard, PAS works cooperatively with Sparrow Health System personnel to continuously improve patient care and the efficient delivery of care. PAS believes it contributes to the success of the Sparrow Health System and that we play a pivotal role in the development, and growth of the institution.
